What is a Tide Clock?
The Moon is the major part of the coastal tides. This clock keeps track of the Moon's motion around the Earth.
Do they Work?
Yes! Because tides all over the world rely on the cycle of the moon, it doesn't really matter where you are. The clock will work anywhere in the world as long as there are two high tides and two low tides each day. Because local currents and solar activity can effect the tides significantly, the tide clock may vary by one hour or more during the quarter moons. However, to you it will still “look” like high or low tide even if the clock is off a bit during these few days. The clock will always catch up to the correct tide time during full and new moon periods. The bottom line... tide clocks are the simplest way to get the tide flow for the recreational water lover.
How to Read the Tide Clock
The clock hand shows number of hours to and from low and high tide.
All Clocks are handmade and reproduced from a hand painted original. I make each one separately to order. They are wood frames in a rich brown color. Each clock measures 12". The face is glass. Takes a AA battery included with instructions on how to set and read the clock.
